This book started as an assignment in an illustration class I was taking at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. My son, Sam, was four years old when I was working on this book. His love of cars and trucks was my inspiration.

The page for F for Fire Truck was one of my favorites to paint because I had to go down to the fire station in my town and ask the firemen to allow me to get on top of their fire truck to do the drawing. So, this is really one of the fire trucks in my own town. Thank you to the firemen of Claremont, CA.
